imageAbout Nano Banana 2.1
Nano Banana 2.1 is Google's image model released in October 2026, an upgrade of Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image): it still renders at Flash-level speed, with better image quality and realism, closer prompt adherence, and more accurate in-image text and infographic layout, and wide or panoramic ratios no longer show repeated, tiled patches. On NezhaGate it is served through the OpenAI images API with model set to nano-banana-2.1: text-to-image goes to /v1/images/generations, and for an edit you put the references in image or images (up to 8; a URL, a data: URI or base64) or call /v1/images/edits. Submitting returns a job id at once; poll GET /v1/images/jobs/{id} for the image. Common ratios such as 1:1, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 at 1K / 2K / 4K, and extra-wide or extra-tall frames such as 4:1, 1:4, 8:1 and 1:8 render directly too. Billed per image, failed jobs refunded in full.
Use cases
Titles, menus, step diagrams and data cards: text-heavy layouts come out spelled right and neatly set, in English or Chinese.
Hero shots, lifestyle scenes and ad variants: keep the product from a reference image and change only the background, light and copy.
Swap backgrounds, change the style or fix details on an existing image, or bring the people, objects and scenes of several images into one while keeping the subject.
Site banners, panoramic landscapes and long vertical images straight at 4:1, 1:4, 8:1 or 1:8, as one continuous picture without repeats.
How to choose
Pick Nano Banana 2.1 for better image quality and more accurate in-image text at Flash-level speed; stay on Nano Banana 2 when you need to match images you made with it before; choose Nano Banana Pro for commercial finals, complex scenes and the finest detail. All three share the same API, so switching is a change of the model field.
